Faithful Hands was born from a desire to preserve one of the most remarkable stories of Christianity in our time. In 1979, there were estimated to be fewer than 500 known Christians from a Muslim background in Iran. Today, that number is estimated to reach into the hundreds of thousands, with some studies suggesting considerably more.
We exist to document these extraordinary stories of faith, equip communities to engage with Persian-speaking communities, and inspire a new generation of advocates for faith and religious freedom.
Our Name:
Faithful Hands reflects our belief that faith is not only something we hold, but something we put into action.
The name is inspired by the biblical call to combine faithfulness with purposeful work: “Let the favour of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.” Psalm 90:17.
In this spirit, Faithful Hands represents service entrusted to God: using our skills, creativity, research, and influence with integrity, courage, and compassion for the benefit of Iranian communities and the wider world.
Meet The Founder
Edwin’s Armenian heritage is deeply rooted in Iran, where his family lived for generations before making the UK their home. He was raised within the Iranian Church, surrounded by Persian-speaking communities from an early age. Some of his earliest memories are of falling asleep on church pews while his parents attended leadership meetings. With family members serving as pastors and church leaders. The Iranian Church was not simply somewhere Edwin attended, it was a community that shaped his upbringing, faith and understanding of Persian culture.
For over 14 years, Edwin has worked closely with Iranian and Persian-speaking communities, including six and a half years with SAT-7 PARS, a Persian-language Christian media platform broadcasting programmes to audiences in Iran and across the Persian-speaking world. Through live broadcasts, programmes and direct engagement with viewers, Edwin helped reach Persian-speaking audiences with Christian content and witnessed first-hand the growing interest in Christianity among Iranians.
Edwin’s academic background spans both law and religion. After studying Law, he went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Religion at King’s College London, combining a strong foundation in critical analysis and advocacy with a deeper academic understanding of faith, religious freedom and the role of religion in society.
Together with his lifelong connection to the Iranian Church and years of experience working with Persian-speaking communities, this strengthened his conviction that Iran’s remarkable story of faith should be researched, documented and preserved. That conviction became Faithful Hands .
Today, Faithful Hands brings together that lifelong connection and experience to preserve the story of Christianity in Iran, equip churches and communities to engage with Persian-speaking communities, and develop a new generation of advocates for faith and religious freedom.
Edwin is also a classically trained pianist and has performed at venues including St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Central Hall.
